This Lemon oil is very suitable for cleaning your guitar and fretboard and conditions the wood at the same time. It is a thin transparant oil that does not discolor the wood and will give a matte finish when applied on bare wood. When you use the Lemon oil as a final layer on top of an oil finish, it provides extra gloss.
Use:
As a finish:
Apply the Lemon oil with a lint free cloth or brush. Rub the oil over the surface until it is absorbed into the wood and an even layer is formed. Leave for max. 20 minutes and then rub with a lint-free cloth or waterproof sandpaper. Let rest for 2-4 hours before applying a next layer. Apply at least 4 layers for good protection when used as a standalone finish, when used as a final layer, one is sufficient.
As fretboard oil:
Apply a little amount of Lemon oil with a cloth or brush and rub the oil over the surface until it is absorbed into the wood and an even layer is formed. Optionally repeat after 2-4 hours. As a maintenance for your fretboard, use with every change of strings in the same way and use the Lemon oil to rub away any build-up dirt.
For cleaning:If your instrument is very dirty, than first remove excess dirt with a well squeezed damp cloth. Apply the Lemon oil with a soft cloth or towel and rub gently over your guitar to remove the dirt. Make sure that you take fresh pieces of your cloth over the instrument to avoid scratches from the dirt.
Used cloths can best be unfolded outside to dry.
