With this Fret wire bender it is quick and easy to get the right radius for your frets and you can also straighten bent wire!
You can simply adjust the radius via the thumbwheel and feed a length of fret wire through using the crank handle. The crank wheel is grooved to keep the fret wire in place and stops it twisting. The fret wire comes out bent (or flatten) to shape and ready to install on your guitar’s fretboard.
The sides of this bender are shaped in the varius radii. This allows a quick check to see if your bend wire is in the correct radius. A luthier's life made a little easier.
Start with the wheel backed away from the bearings for a shallow radius, run a length through and check it on the guitars fretboard.
Then tighten the radius and run it through again if required. Most builders and techs install their frets with wire that has a slightly tighter radius than the fretboard to help stop the ends popping up when seating the frets.
To change the bender to straighten wire simply move the right hand bearing to the upper hole and run the fret wire through.
The heavy duty aluminum base plate can be clamped or mounted to your workbench.
