This tang is ideal for pulling out existing frets from your guitar fretboard when they are worn out. With its small and flat beak of 13mm wide and 2 x 8mm deep, it is easier to get under the fret crown.
Glued in frets need to be heated to loosen the glue, for example with a soldering iron. Move in steps over the whole fret. Be careful not to slip and damage the fretboard or burning your fingers. It may be an idea to use a cheap soldering iron and file a concave in the tip to guide over the fret wire.
Wedge the tang under the crown and lift it bit by bit over the whole length of the fret. Reheat in between if necessary. Work in small steps and never pull one side of the fret out completely when the other side is still mounted in.
To reduce the risk of tear outs of your fretboard, you could protect your fretboard with binding tape or with a fretboard protector once you lifted the fret a little bit.
