This nitrocellulose clear coat is especially developed to crackle and give an aged look to your guitar. The formulation is similar to that used in the 1960’s by Gibson and Fender. The lacquer does not contain plasticizers, making the lacquer more rigid for a more natural with excellent tonal qualities. The crackle forms when the guitar is exposed to temperature differences.
Can be used on well-prepared wood for a natural finish, but also on our suStain, suStain Mica, Metal Flakes and on colored, metallic or pearl basecoats. Average use is 2 to 3 cans per guitar.
For the best result, use in combination with the Relic Patina.
Please Note: This is a flammable product and cannot be shipped outside the EU or over sea!
Use:
Shake well before use.
Sand the object until grain 400, use a grain filler for open pore woods.
The last sanding should be in the direction of the grain until all scratches have been removed.
Remove dust and greasy residue and apply 2-3 thin layers by spraying in cross sections.
After that, spray the regular layers with 60 minutes drying time in between.
Maximum 3 layers per day and allow 24 hours to dry before applying the next 3 layers.
Apply in total between 9-12 full layers to account for sanding and polishing.Sand lightly between coats for the best bond.
After the last 3 layers, let cure for 2 weeks minimum and polish.
The crackle will appear when the guitar is exposed to temperature differences. For the optimal crackle, place the guitar in the fridge at -20 degrees Celsius for 2 to 3 hours. Let it reach room temperature again and repeat. For the best result, finish with the Relic Patina.
Clean the nozzle after use by inverting the can and spray for 3-5 seconds.
Make sure to use a fine dust mask and spray in a well-ventilated area.
