This hardener is developed for use with the Polyurethane primer or Matte finish from Nitorlack. The primer comes with 2 bottles hardener, but given the short period after opening, it can be handy to have an extra bottle.
With the Poly Pro Primer you create the best base for your guitar finish with Polyurethane lacquer. The primer fills the pores and saturates the top layer of your wood and reduces the required amount of lacquer. Depending on your wood, best is to apply 1 to 3 layers of primer.
The mixing ration is 2 parts lacquer to 1 part hardener.
Please Note: This is a flammable product and cannot be shipped outside the EU or over sea!
Use with Poly Pro Primer or Matte:
Wear protective clothing and a suitable fine-dust mask.
Your spraygun or aerographic system will require a nozzle of 2 – 2,5mm and 2,5 – 3 Atom pressure.
Make a draft-free space available where your guitar can dry safely.
Sand the surface of your guitar up and including 400 grit and remove any dust and grease.
Apply 2 (and if required 3) layers of Poly Pro Primer with 5 – 10 minutes drying time in between.
Let dry for 24 hours.
Sand the primer smooth with grit 400 to maximum 600 and remove dust and grease.
Apply 1 to 2 base layers of Poly Pro Clearcoat till the surface is uniformly covered. Wait 5 to 15 minutes between the layers till the surface is just a little bit tacky before the next layer.
Leave to dry for at least 5 hours.
Sand lightly with grit 800 or maximum 1200 and remove dust and grease.
Apply 2 top layers of Poly Pro Clearcoat with again 5 to 15 minutes between the layers.
Leave to fully cure for at least 48 hours, longer if required depending on the weather.
Sand the lacquer smooth in sanding rounds starting from grit 800 to 2000.
Polish with for example the Menzerna polishing system.
The pot-life is 4 hours.
The hardener has a period after opening of 2 months
