Kovax Tolecut sheets 1200

Kovax Tolecut is available from 800 up to 3000 grit and takes you from finish to polishing. 

Finish
After you have sanded your lacquer with the Assilex 600 and 800, you see where small imperfections have arisen. These places you can easily sand with Tolecut 800. You can of course also incorporate the rest of the surface. Sand in 1 direction. Always look with good grazing light over the surface to check how far you are. Sanded parts become matt, non-sanded parts continue to shine brightly. If you still see shiny spots, then continue. If they have almost disappeared, switch to the Tolecut 1200 and then the 1500.

Polishing
With the Tolecut 2000 and 3000 you remove minimal material and you just remove sanding scratches in order to evenly polish the surface and apply a proper gloss. Work in the same way as above: sanding in 1 direction, looking over the surface with good light.

For the polishing of your fretboard, we have noticed that the 1200 and 1500 sanding passages give such a stunningly smooth result with a super beautiful shine that we actually just leave it at that.

Sanding flat surfaces
For sanding flat surfaces, we recommend a hard surface under the sandpaper. This gives the least chance of uneven removal of material or finger pressure. The Toleblock is ideal, but a cork block can also suffice and even a block of wood can, but be alert for any hard corners and sharp edges. Tolecut is a stick-on, that's easy.

Sand round surfaces
For sanding round parts such as the inside of horns, you can take a piece of PVC tube and stick your sandpaper around it. Make sure you do not have overlapping parts.

Tip:

• Provide a good basis with Kovax Assilex 240-400.
• Use the Toleblock, which is made of sturdy rubber and keeps the Tolecut in place and prevents damage to your lacquer.
• Polish to high gloss with Menzerna, available from 400 to 3500.
