Turn your own knob from a piece of rest wood to get the perfect match with your guitar design. The format of the insert is 10mm x 8,2mm. The inner diameter is 6,5mm with an adjusting screw, it will fit on a 6,35mm / ¼ inch size potentiometer. The adjusting screw has a diameter of 3mm and its placed on a centered height of 4,2mm from the bottom.
You can easily turn your own knobs, even without a lathe. Use a 10mm drill bit and a drill press to make a centered hole in a piece of scrap wood. Our advice is to use a Famag 10mm drill bit as it has side cutters that will be useful later on.
After drilling, place the knob back on the drill bit. The side cutters will keep the knob firmly in place without skipping. Turn on the drill press on high speed and use a rasp of sandpaper on a block to shape the knob. Its best to clamp the rasp or sandpaper on a fixed distance, bringing it closer to the knob each time. This will ensure a perfect round shape. Working free hand will not provide the same result.
After turning the knob, drill a 3,2mm hole on a distance of 4,2mm from the bottom. This will house the adjusting screw.
