This chip stopper helps to protect your fretboard when you want to remove the frets from your guitar.
The chip stopper is supplied as set of 2. They are made from 0.4mm steel and have a small slot of 1x74,3mm to slide under the crown of the fret.
Please note: The chip stoppper are cut from steel and can have sharp edges on one side. Make sure to place the smooth side on your fretboard or sand any sharp edges lightly down.
Heat the old fret with a soldering iron and pull from one side the fret slightly up with a fret puller till you can slide the chip stopper under the fret.
Work in small steps and reheat if required.
Once the chip stopper is placed completely under the fret, you can carefully use a bit more force to pull the fret up.
Place the second chip stopper over the first and under the fret crown when you have sufficient height. This will help with keeping the stoppers down and creating more height to lift the fret wth the fret puller.
If you are using an old soldering iron and have onther one to use for your soldering jobs, you can file a snall slot in the tip to guide the fret crown. Make sure the plug is out and the iron is cold before doing so ;).
