This rules is very handy for marking the string positions for the nut of your guitar. The ruler has small gaps through which you can mark nearly every possible string spacing.
You start with marking the outer string positions on the nut. This is usually around 3.2mm inwardsJ
The ruler is used with the instructions visible. You slide it over the nut till the two outer markings on your nut match with two gaps in the ruler with the required number of markings in between for your strings.
Those string positions can be marked than with a fine pencil or sharp knife.
The ruler is suited for guitars and bass guitars and is made of flexible stainless steel in 32,5x2,9cm.
The nut is an important part of your instrument: it sets the tone for the playability.
With the nut you determine string distance and, together with the bridge, the string height.
The fibrations from the strings are transferred via the nut to the wood of your guitar, it has to be though, smooth and durable. A lot to think about when making your nut!
