With this variable adjustable jig you can route the Rosette and soundhole for your guitar and also use it as a router extension. A versatile tool for luthiers!
The extension is made of high quality transparent plexiglass for optimum view of your project. It comes with pre-drilled holes for regular router bases such as Bosch, Makita and Dremel. With the supplied inner component you can easily drill additional holes for a different base if required.
The radius for your circle is set stepless on the pinhole. For larger circles this is easily flipped over to give you a reach for a diameter from 6 to 32 cm and anything in between. Comes with a 5mm pin to position in the centerpoint of your circle.
We have also added a removable height support for optimum stability when you use this jig in combination with the Rosette preparation and router jig
Use:
Download these guidelines for setting the jig or when you want to make adjustments for a different router base.
Rosette and Soundhole router jig
Draw the center point of your soundhole or rosette and drill a 5mm diameter hole.
Determine the desired diameter (indicated radius x2). Distance is from axis to axis. Please keep the diameter of your bit in mind.
Set the distance by loosening the outer bolts and slide till the centerline reaches the required number. Secure. If you want a larger diameter, unscrew and flip over.
Remove the height support by unscrewing the black hex key screws. Mount the jig to your router base and place your detail router bit and set the height.
Place the 5mm pin in the hole on the template.
Hold your router above the surface let the pin slide into the hole till the router bit is still slightly above the surface.
Turn on the router and let it slide straight down till the template is flat on the surface.
Move with light pressure in the form of a circle till you are fully round.
