Own design neck shaping template

Trace your neck as accurate as possible to the edge of the fretboard. This can be done with a profiling tool or with thin cardboard that you cut into the correct shape. Make sure to have the 3 shapes of the corresponding positions. Trace the shapes onto 1 A4 sheet and scan the sheet. You can upload the scan as a .jpg or as a .png file.

Measure the width of the net and the frets on the 1^st, 7^th and 12^th position. Measure the frets on the position where the metal fret is in the neck. Not the finger position.

Measure the height of the neck including the thickness of the fretboard on the 1^st, 7^th and 12^th position, as close as you can to the fret.

Don’t worry about the tracing line with a pencil of pen. We will digitalize the scan and make the profile according to the shape in combination with the measurements.

Be aware that with manual shaping, there will always be a little deviation between one side of the neck and the other side. With digitalizing we take 1 side shape and mirror it to the other side. That way you will have a symmetrical template.

If you want an acoustic neck profile template, measurements will often be done on the 1^st, 6 ^st, and 10^th position. This because the heel often starts on the 12^th position. If there are deviations in the measurements or positions, please elaborate in the additional info field.
