Nitrocellulose clearcoat gloss

Nitrocellulose Glans

What:
Gloss lacquer based on nitrocellulose which is applied by spraying.

Result:
Gloss to high gloss, transparent and colorless.
Built up in layers to a protective coat for your wood.

Preparation:
Sand the surface u/i grit 400. Remove dust and grease.
Wood with open pores can best be treated with a grainfiller. Grains can be treated with Cellulose sanding sealer for the smoothest result.
Create a well-ventilated wok space and a system to hold your guitar allowing you easy movement and ability to hang the guitar to dry. Get yourself a high quality fine-dust mask and protective clothing.

Application:
If you use a can, shake before use. Letting the can warm up in a bucket of warm water helps the product flow. If you use the liquid version, mix with nitro thinner to a milk-like consistency.
Start with 2-3 very thin diagonally crossed layers as a prime-coat. Apply regular layers after that with 60 minutes drying time between the layers. After use of a spraycan, clean the nozzle by spraying upside-down for 3-5 seconds.
Apply maximum 3 coats per day and leave 24 hours between the next 3 coats. Sand lightly between the layers and remove dust.
We advise a total of 9 – 12 layers, taking into account the sanding and polishing. After the last layer, let cure for 2 weeks.

Finish and maintain:
Sand with grits 800 to 2000 or 3000 to remove spots and create a smooth surface. Use surface light to check your work and a pad under your sanding paper to prevent finger pressure. When sanding with waterproof paper, be careful with openings such as your tuner holes, don’t let any water get into them and optionally create a water barrier with some Vaseline that is removed afterwards. Don’t let your paper get dry and remove the water with sanding dust carefully with a microfiber cloth. We highly recommend sanding with the Kovax Assilex and Tolecut dry sanding which safes you a lot of hassle and gives you a smoother result in less time.

Polish with Menzerna 400, 2500 and 3500 to a mirror like high gloss.

Clean regularly with a damp (not wet) cloth or Lemon Oil. Small damages can be repaired by sanding the spot lightly, removing grease and dust and applying drops of lacquer. The new nitro will melt together with the existing coat. Sand and polish after curing.

Safety:
Ventilate well and wear a high quality fine-dust mask and protective clothing!
Clean tools with nitro thinner.

Available in 500ml spuitbus and 1L & 5L Pro
