With this durable set from recycled plexiglass you have an accurate template of a 21 frets ‘72s Telecaster Thinline style guitar. The templates are made from sturdy 5mm transparent plexiglass which gives an optimum view on your work and is far more wear resistant than MDF.
The body templates are equipped with centerlines and cavities for the electronics, neck pocket and string through holes.
The neck / fretboard template comes with the headstock attached and has 9mm tuner holes, 6mm position dot holes and gaps for marking your fret positions.
Additionally, the templates show the lines for checking your belly-cut, arm-rest or headstock-heel.
This set contains:
- Body template front side
- Body template Thinline cavities.
- Neck / fretboard template with attached headstock for easy routing
- Nut width: 42mm / 1.650"
- Heel width: 56,56mm / 2.22"
- Scale: 25,5" / 647,7mm
- Aantal frets: 21
- Pickup formfactor: Wide Range Humbucker
- Neckplate: Vintage 3-hole (small pilot holes) or modern square neckplate
- Bridgeformfactor: American Vintage Hardtail 2-7/32" (56,35mm) string spacing
You can place a mordern bridge like the Gotoh GTC101 with a string spacing of 52,5mm, but dont use the pilot holes in the template if you do. Make the holes based on the hardware you use.
You can choose not to route the lower big cavity to provide more balance to the instrument.
Optional: Pickguard template
With this template you can route your own pickguard.
Please note that these templates are made to order which may result in a longer processing time of around one working day for your order.
Use:
- Make sure your workpiece is placed steady, flat, at a good height with a comfortable working position and good view on your work area.
- Be focused.
- With routing, always wear protective clothing such as eye and ear protection and a dust mask. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove waste material and prevent that from heaping up.
- Set the RPM to the advised rate that comes with your machine or router bit.
- Keep the ball bearings of your template bits clean before and after use to make sure the bearing doesn’t get stuck during routing.
- Never route too much material at once to prevent your router from breaking away and to avoid unnecessary ware on your router bit. Guide is maximum half of your router bits height and half of its diameter.
- To create sufficient depth while keeping the guidance bearing of your template bit against the template, work with different lengths of bits, changing them when more depth is required.
- Secure templates with good double-sided sticky tape. If you secure the template with clamps, protect the wood of the body and make sure that your router can move freely.
- Always use our templates so that the text is readable (or for left handed so that none is readable).
- You can use the neck template to mark the fret positions on your fretboard. Always cut your fret slots before routing the shape of your fretboard.
- Always check before routing if your purchased hardware and pick-ups fit in the template cavities.
